Important Laser Treatment Information
Preparation, Treatment and Aftercare for Optimal Results
Preparation for laser treatment plays a crucial role in the effectiveness and safety of the procedure. Here are detailed instructions to follow in the days before, during and after treatment.
Before Treatment
2-3 days before treatment
It is recommended to wet shave 2-3 days before laser treatment to ensure smooth laser application.
4 weeks before treatment
Avoid any direct UV radiation, whether from natural sunlight or artificial UV sources. This minimizes the risk of skin irritation and unwanted reactions during laser treatment.
2 weeks before treatment
Refrain from spray tans and the application of self-tanning creams to enable even and precise laser treatment.
1 week before treatment
Botox injections should be avoided one week before laser treatment to prevent possible interactions.
8 weeks before treatment
Any hyaluronic acid injections should be stopped 8 weeks before laser treatment.
On the Day of Treatment
No deodorant, perfume or lotion
Before laser treatment, avoid using deodorant, perfume and lotion to minimize skin irritation. We also recommend a pH-neutral shampoo without silicones and fragrance.
No UV rays
On the day of treatment, it is important to avoid direct UV radiation, whether from sunlight or solarium.
No essential oils
Essential oils in the form of tea, supplements, massage oil or diffuser should be avoided on the day of treatment.
After Treatment
Use moisturizer
After laser treatment, it is recommended to use a moisturizer without fragrance and silicones to soothe the skin and promote healing.
No sauna and steam bath
For 72 hours after treatment, sauna visits and steam baths should be avoided to not unnecessarily stress the skin.
No UV rays
Direct sunlight and solarium should be avoided for at least 7 days after laser treatment to prevent skin irritation and pigmentation changes.
Regular gentle exfoliation
The use of gentle exfoliants is recommended to remove dead skin cells and support skin regeneration. Exfoliation helps the dead hair follicle to release.
Important Note on Medications and Herbs
The intake of any medications, as well as supplements (e.g., beta-carotene) and herbs (capsules, powder, tea, herbal bath) should be stopped 3-7 days before and after laser treatment, unless they are life-sustaining medications. This minimizes potential risks of interactions and supports a smooth treatment process.
Essential Oils and Herbs
Before, during and after laser treatments, clients should avoid using essential oils and herbs. These substances can cause skin irritation, which in combination with already sensitive skin after laser treatments can lead to disruption of healing processes. Special caution is advised as some essential oils and herbs can make the skin more photosensitive, increasing the risk of unwanted side effects.
Photosensitive Medications
Certain medications can make the skin more photosensitive, meaning it reacts more sensitively to light. If such medications are taken while undergoing laser treatment, this can increase the risk of unwanted side effects such as redness or pigmentation changes. It is important to inform the institute about taking such medications to adjust laser treatment accordingly.
Blood Thinners and Laser Treatments
Blood thinners are medications that affect blood circulation and slow blood clotting. During laser treatment, there is a risk of skin bleeding, especially if blood circulation is impaired. The combination of blood thinners and laser treatments can lead to an increased risk of bruising or other bleeding problems. It is important to inform the practitioner if blood thinners are being taken so appropriate precautions can be taken.
Preparation and Aftercare Extremely Important
It is crucial to follow the individual instructions of the institute exactly to achieve optimal results and minimize possible side effects.
